Process development

Lab-scale R&D and bench testing

Planning in accordance with the principles of DOE (Design of Experiments), and conducting research and tests in the field of biotechnology and process engineering. Statistical optimization of process conditions – upstream and downstream processing on a laboratory scale including: pre-treatment and hydrolysis processes, fermentation, separation, extraction, concentration and development of the final product form.

 

Piloting

Conducting tests on a pilot scale, based on the results of experiments performed on a laboratory scale. Optimizing of process conditions up to 1 m3. Development of process assumptions for production scale. Development of the concept of comprehensive technological lines with machinery that is standard or customized to the customer’s needs.

 

Upscaling and large-scale testing

We carry out scale-up in the form of both theoretical design, as well as tests on a scale close to full production. This stage directly precedes full scale industrial implementation.

 

R&D financing

We finance research and development in the field of biotechnology and process engineering from our own resources, as well as with European funds, cooperating with intermediary institutions including specialised service providers, such as Entrepreneurs in Lodz, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the National Centre for Research and Development.

As a company, we have also repeatedly participated in innovative projects commissioned by commercial entities, which co-financed these projects from their own funds. Our R&D activity focuses mainly on areas such as bio-refining technologies to obtain valuable biomass products (e.g. plant proteins), biofuels and bioenergy production technologies, wastewater treatment technologies, but also low tonnage chemistry technologies, such as hyaluronic acid production. Our constant partner in this research is Bionanopark Lodz.

Planning & engineering

Process

Comprehensive design of the process, both conceptual (FEED) and implementation. The work includes the development of documentation. From the level of block diagrams, through preliminary and detailed mass-energy balances, PFD diagrams, P&ID diagrams, selection and specification of equipment as well as control and measuring apparatus to layouts in the form functional 3D models and 2D documentation.
The industrial process also includes piping projects, from the spatial model to the isometric documentation, along with the required accompanying specifications (BOM statements, line lists etc.).

 

Architecture

Comprehensive architectural design, from the initial concept of the spatial layout of an industrial facility to complete detailed design, including visualizations and 3D models. Adaptation of the building design to its technological function while maintaining architectural values. Modernization, reconstruction and extension of existing buildings, adaptation to perform industrial functions. Cost estimation, energy certificates.

 

Structure

Designing steel and reinforced concrete structures, geotechnical and foundations design. Experience in designing industrial, warehouse, office and social buildings, support structures for process equipment, pipe bridges, tanks, silos, sheds and other structures. Preparation of projects for building permission, detailed design and workshop documentation. The ability to design custom constructions tailored to each process function. Designs for strengthening and adapting structures to new process functions. Optimization of applied solutions in terms of availability of construction materials. Designs according to Polish, European and US standards.

Permitting

Environmental permits

Comprehensive assistance in obtaining environmental permits. Preparing required documentation including project information sheets and environmental impact reports.

 

Site planning

Assistance in identifying existing land zoning and permitted use, seeking approval from the regulatory body for amendments as required by the project.

 

Building permits

Comprehensive assistance during the procedure of obtaining a valid building permit by preparing an application and the building project.
We also offer comprehensive investor services in the field of:

• representing the Investor before local government bodies,
• individual advice and technical assistance in administrative proceedings,
• obtaining formal conditions necessary for applications for obtaining the above administrative permits.

Project execution

Technical
and engineering support

Engineering support for construction processes. Making the necessary design changes at the execution stage. Assistance in solving problems arising during the implementation of the project.

Commissioning

Pre-commissioning

Initial mechanical completion tests of the process equipment, consisting of verification of compliance with the design documentation. “Dry” and “wet” mechanical tests of the complete process installation.

Commissioning

Essential commissioning and optimization of the installation’s work, aimed at achieving the assumed production parameters.

Post-commissioning services

Warranty and post-warranty service of the process installation, both in remote mode and through personal supervision of specialists at the operating plant.
